A Long Winter

Since it is about a year since I decided to abandon another blog and we are having record temperatures in Portland and Stuttgart – here is a photo of February 2021. It’s taken on Schwäbische Alb and it was -14°C that day.

Opening Statement

This space has been used for many purposes over the years. As a home for a small consulting business. As a place to share photos. As a CV on the web.

It ran on Shopify & Squarespace. It ran on self-hosted Raspberry Pis and Linode. Now it resides as a drop-in AWS Lightsail instance with WordPress. I’m pretty happy about the possibilities – albeit I miss some of the Design stuff on Squarespace. Alas – all the content there is lost when you decide to leave which makes me feel better about WordPress.

In addition this is just another add-on to my AWS bill, which already takes care of all my domains and backups. So much for the technical side of things.

What this space is going to contain from a content perspective is very much open. I have tons of thoughts on business, morality and societal discourse as well as politics. But I’m not sure I will really find the time to write much. I am currently very much busy building up a software business for a multinational company with a history of magnificent innovations and am rather happily occupied.

So it might be, that I’ll share more pictures (which I still like to take manually) and short form content.

Let’s see & Godspeed to me.
